What the Venus Mahadasha brings
Shukra is love, beauty, art, pleasure, comfort and partnership. Its Mahadasha lasts 20 years, the longest of the nine, and tends to bring relationships, marriage, home comforts, vehicles, music, design and social life to the front. Many people find their tastes and their earning both grow.
Parashara describes a strong Venus period as bringing marriage and happiness with a spouse, wealth, vehicles, fine clothes and ornaments, success in the arts and the favour of people in power. Phaladeepika adds gains through trade, women and creative work.
When Venus is strong or weak
Venus exalted in Meena, in its own signs Vrishabha or Tula, or well placed in a kendra or trikona tends to give the classic Venus blessings: a happy partnership, comfort, beauty, artistic success and prosperity. It is also a yogakaraka for Makara and Kumbha Lagna.
Venus debilitated in Kanya, combust, in the 6th, 8th or 12th, or afflicted by Mars, Saturn or Rahu may show as strain in relationships, overspending, indulgence or comforts that come and go. Moderation, loyalty and respect in partnerships are the traditional safeguards.
Venus Bhukti (40 months)
The opening sub-period is a full measure of Venus: relationships, home, vehicles, art and enjoyment. With a strong Venus, marriage or new comforts often come; with a weak one, relationship strain or excess. Enjoy beauty with balance.
Sun Bhukti (12 months)
The Sun and Venus are not friends. Texts describe recognition and contact with government alongside friction with authority, tension with the father or a partner and lower energy. Keep pride and pleasure in balance and look after your routine.
Moon Bhukti (20 months)
The Moon brings emotional richness, comforts, home life and support from the mother and women. Texts describe gains, travel and pleasant times with family. A weak Moon may bring changing moods or spending on comforts, so keep a budget.
Mars Bhukti (14 months)
Mars adds passion and energy. Texts describe gains of land, property and income, alongside quarrels, impatience and heated moments in relationships. Use the energy for building and exercise, and keep disagreements cool.
Rahu Bhukti (36 months)
Rahu is friendly to Venus and can bring luxury, foreign travel, new circles and success in modern or unconventional work. Texts also mention indulgence, entanglements and confusion. Keep your values clear and your finances transparent.
Jupiter Bhukti (32 months)
Jupiter brings dharma, learning and family growth. Texts describe wealth, children, religious activity and good reputation, sometimes with disagreements between pleasure and duty, since Jupiter and Venus guide opposite camps in the Puranas. Choose the path of integrity.
Saturn Bhukti (38 months)
Saturn is a close friend of Venus, and this is often a strong phase for career, property and lasting gains, especially for Vrishabha and Tula Lagna. Texts also mention hard work and responsibility. Steady effort now builds long-term comfort.
Mercury Bhukti (34 months)
Mercury is a friend of Venus, and this phase often brings success in business, art, writing and communication, good friends and comfortable living. Texts describe wealth and happiness. A weak Mercury may bring scattered effort, so stay focused.
Ketu Bhukti (14 months)
The Venus period closes with Ketu. Texts mention sudden changes, detachment, family friction and spending on unexpected matters, along with spiritual interest. It is a natural time to simplify and to prepare for the Sun period that follows.
Traditional remedies
Venus's remedies traditionally honour beauty, devotion and respect in relationships:
- Mantra: chant Om Shukraya Namah, especially on Fridays.
- Prayer: worship Lakshmi or the Divine Mother, for example by reciting the Sri Suktam or the Lalita Sahasranama.
- Charity: give rice, sugar, curd or white cloth on Fridays, and support the education and welfare of girls and women.
- Conduct: be faithful and respectful in partnerships, keep spending within your means and enjoy simple beauty.
How to read this for your own chart
In your Kundli, find Venus's sign, house and strength and the houses it rules (Vrishabha and Tula). Note whether it is combust and which planets join or aspect it. Your Dasha page shows when Venus periods fall. These notes are general; your own chart decides.
